BVU Becomes Youngest University in Vietnam Rated 4 QS STARS™

On October 26th, 2021, Ba Ria – Vung tau University (BVU), member school of the Nguyen Hoang Education Group (NHG), will officially receive the 4 QS STARS™  Rating Certificate from the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Organization of the United Kingdom. BVU will become one 1 of only 5 universities in Vietnam and the youngest of these universities to have the honor of receiving this rating. Notably, 2 of the 5 universities receiving the 4 QS STARS™ rating are member schools of Nguyen Hoang Education Group.

The 4 Stars QS Certificate Awarding Ceremony for Ba Ria – Vung Tau University will be attended by representatives of QS, Mr. Jeroen Prinsen (QS Regional Director Asia Pacific) and Mr. Samuel Ang (QS Regional Director Asia Pacific), representatives of Nguyen Hoang Education Group and the Board of Administration, lecturers and students of Ba Ria – Vung Tau University. Mr. Jeroen Prinsen and Samuel Ang will represent QS to virtually award the certificate to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Loc, President of BVU.

4 QS STARS™ from the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Organization.

“It is my absolute pleasure to recognize the collective achievement of Ba Ra – Vung tau University in achieving an overall 4 QS STARS™ rating. This is an improvement on the previous 3 Stars achievement and equals the highest rating achieved by a University in Vietnam. For such a young University, BVU has quickly reached heights that have taken others many years to accomplish. BVU’s Mission as an Application-Oriented University and focus on strategic links between the University and Industry are a testament to BVU’s particularly high scoring in the QS Stars categories for Teaching & Employability which both achieved an outstanding 5 Stars.  These scores also align closely with BVU’s Core Values and furthermore demonstrate the good work the University is undertaking in meeting these goals alongside these additional categories in QS Stars where you also scored highly: Academic Development – 5 Stars; Facilities – 5 Stars; Social Responsibility – 4 Stars; Inclusiveness – 5 Stars,” QS Regional Director Asia Pacific, Mr. Jeroen Prinsen says.

QS currently owns the QS World University Rankings, an annual ranking of universities around the world and is considered to be one of the most prestigious and influential rankings globally. Participating in the QS STARS™ evaluation system, universities have the opportunity to improve their overall quality. QS STARS™ helps higher education institutions understand their strengths and weaknesses in all aspects of their operations. After an elaborate process of data collection and analysis, QS STARS™ will provide a university with detailed data in 8 criteria so that the university can build a roadmap for improvement and enhance their quality of education.

BVU is the youngest university in Vietnam to recieve a 4 QS STARS™

In June of 2021, BVU registered to be evaluated by QS. BVU underwent a rigorous review process and remained completely independent in data collection, review and evaluation of the University’s activities in accordance with the 12 standards and 67 criteria as set by QS STARS™. The QS criteria for evaluation includes Teaching, Employability, Internationalization, Academic Development, Facilities, Social Responsibility and Inclusiveness.

On September 7, 2021, QS officially announced that Ba Ria-Vung Tau University has reached the 4 QS STARS™ rating with a total score of 595. In this evaluation, BVU was rated 5 stars of excellence for 5 out of 8 criteria, which are: Teaching, Employability, Academic Development, Facilities and Inclusiveness.

“According to QS, ‘A typical 4 QS STARS™ university is highly international, demonstrating excellence in both research and teaching. The institution provides an excellent environment for students, faculty and international activities.’ BVU achieving 4 QS STARS™ reflects the University’s immense progress in improving the quality of teaching, student employment rate and student social responsibility. With an internationalization strategy towards sustainable development in many fields, focusing on optimizing resource gathering of marine economy with key training disciplines in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Tourism and Foreign Language combined with the expansion of the school’s facilities, BVU promises to bring more positive contributions to learners and the development of the community.” Prof. Dr. Nguyen Loc, President of Ba Ria-Vung Tau University says.

In the QS Rankings List, Vietnam currently has 5 universities that are rated 4 Star, including 2 universities that are members of Nguyen Hoang Education Group, Hoa Sen University and Ba Ria-Vung Tau University.

BVU’s new campus will begin operation in the 2022-2023 school-year
and aims to become the first resort university in Vietnam.

For many years, BVU has been the favorite learning destination of many students from 55 provinces and cities across the country. With knowledge, skills and attitudes accumulated and practiced during their academic career, over 95% of BVU graduates are employed quickly upon graduation with good incomes at home and abroad. Notably, Vung Tau City is a growing metropolis with a clean environment and agreeable climate. Located in Vung Tau, BVU’s new campus will be put into operation from the academic year 2022-2023, already dubbed the first university resort in Vietnam.
